PENGUIN WINDOWS TEAMS WITH HABITAT FOR HUMANITY TO PROVIDE WINDOWS FOR TWO NEW LOCAL HOUSING PROJECTS

Seattle – June 23, 2010 – Penguin Windows has made a major donation by providing over 70 windows for new Habitat for Humanity housing projects in the Seattle area.

The donation makes it possible for Habitat for Humanity to provide affordable housing opportunities for seven new households at High Point (West Seattle) and Rainier Vista (Rainier Valley). Habitat’s unique model of home ownership is highly successful in assisting low and very low-income households in purchasing a home. Habitat achieves this level of affordability by building the units almost exclusively with volunteer labor and donations of products like the windows from Penguin Windows.

“We’re honored to team with Habitat for Humanity Seattle/South King County to provide the windows for these new homes,” said Dean Laue, president of Penguin Windows. “Both projects show what happens when the Seattle community comes together. We’re proud of our role at both High Point and Rainier Vista.”

“Penguin Windows has come to us as a true partner by providing a high quality product and professional installation,” said Marty Kooistra, chief executive officer for Habitat for Humanity in Seattle/South King County. “We’re delighted with the partnership.”

Penguin Windows Continues Its Corporate Support of the Treehouse Champions for Foster Kids Luncheon

SEATTLE, WA–(Marketwire – March 10, 2010) – Penguin Windows announced today that it is continuing its ongoing support of Treehouse with a $25,000 donation to the charity at the Treehouse Champions for Foster Kids Luncheon. The luncheon, held today at the Seattle Sheraton, is the organization’s major fundraising event of the year, which provides valuable support to enhance the lives of foster kids. With the donation, Penguin becomes one of the organization’s all-time leading sponsors, contributing more than $200,000 since first partnering with the charity in 2001. In addition to the corporate contribution, more than 36 employees and business associates of Penguin also attended the event and made individual contributions. Penguin Windows supports Treehouse with contributions throughout the year. For each window the company sells, $1 is donated to Treehouse.

“We’re extremely honored to once again support Treehouse in its mission to create better lives, and better opportunities for the state’s foster care children,” said Vaughn McCourt, Director of Operations for Penguin Windows. “Every year we focus on growing our contributions to Treehouse, because it really does make a difference. Whether it’s sending a child to summer camp, supporting their dreams through extra-curricular activities, or providing clothes and supplies to help them fit in at school, Treehouse makes a direct and tangible impact to children whose lives have been turned upside down from neglect or abuse.”

Since 1998, Treehouse has been filling the gaps for kids in foster care, becoming one of the most respected social service agencies in the Pacific Northwest. Today, the organization is recognized both locally and nationally for its innovative and highly effective programs to improve the lives of foster kids. You won’t hear any complaints from Treehouse as 2010 marks Penguin’s second contribution as a top-level sponsor, capping nearly a decade of continuous financial support that totals more than $200,000.

“Thanks to Penguin’s commitment and generosity, many more foster children will be able to receive our important services,” said Janis Avery, Executive Director of Treehouse. “In a time when corporate giving is down, it is a much-needed shot in the arm for our organization and we thank Penguin for their dedication to the foster children of our communities.”

Penguin Windows Delivers Massive Amounts of Food and Gift Donations Just in Time for the Holidays Employees Donate Over 2000 Food Items to Seattle’s Northwest Harvest Food Bank and Over 350 Toys to Local Charities

SEATTLE, WA–(Marketwire – December 29, 2009) – Penguin Windows’ community giving campaign got a heart-felt holiday boost this week with a special delivery made just in time for Christmas. On December 22nd at 11:30 AM, a large Penguin Windows truck backed up to the Northwest Harvest Cherry Street Food Bank in Seattle, WA to deliver thousands of dollars worth of food, just a week after delivering hundreds of toys to area charities. This latest delivery will help give Northwest Harvest the supplies it needs to provide nutritious food to hungry people statewide over the holidays in a manner that respects their dignity, and works to eliminate hunger.

Penguin Windows President, Dean Laue makes a concerted effort to give year round, but this year he wanted to reach deeper and give more. “We believe in this community. It’s not just where we work, it’s where we live,” said Laue. “And for the folks at Penguin Windows, the holidays are a big part of what makes our communities so bright. It’s only natural that we’d rally behind such a great cause that truly embodies the spirit of giving.”

Northwest Harvest, Washington’s own statewide hunger relief agency, provides a proven, successful, and cost-effective model for getting nutritious food to those who need it. They strive to be the most efficient hunger response program in the state of Washington, with more than 93% of their budget going directly to food distribution.

The massive food donation comes just a week after Penguin Windows teamed up with another Seattle organization, Treehouse, for a highly-successful gift drive called “The Joy of Giving.” Last weekend, proud Penguin employees delivered more than 350 toys destined for needy families, as well as clothing donations that would also be delivered in time for Christmas.
